Richard Hanks, researcher and writer for Coyote Hill Press, will be giving a talk about the history of quilts back to the Civil War.
There will be an exhibit board with the very rare Civil War U.S. Sanitary Commission quilt and newspaper clippings about how it ended up in Redlands, CA. Above is a photo of the quilt, which is hanging in a museum where Richard worked in California.
Richard will bring his retirement quilt and his grandma's quilts to show.
Hero Quilts - since 2007 they have been made for injured military.
Antique quilts
Retirement quilts
Christmas stockings
Mending Hearts quilts for those affected by disasters and domestic violence
A selection of quilts made by members of ULA - they also belong to many of the above groups.
There will be quilters available to answer questions about their work and information of additional sites displaying quilts.

The Ladies Aid will be having our traditional bake sale with more than 40 pies and other baked goods, beginning at 10am. Many begin lining up very early, as we do sell out within minutes of opening the doors.
There will be a patriotic walk that begins at approximately 11 am. While folks are lining up and getting ready, there will be music this year! Provided by Fiddle n Squeeze, a fiddle and accordion duo playing Bluegrass, Celtic, and Old Time music, they will begin at 10:00 and play while everyone gets ready for the patriotic walk.
After the patriotic walk (see the route in the picture above...), there will be a flag raising ceremony at the Ladies Aid Building led by our local Boy Scouts, followed by a few patriotic sing-along songs.
And then,…popsicles for All!
There is always room for more pies on the Bake Sale Tables!
Would you like to join the Ladies Aid and be a part of giving back? We would love to welcome you at our next member luncheon, the 2nd Wednesdays of each month, beginning with social time at 11:30am.
Bring your lawn chairs and picnic for this FREE concert of Old Time fiddle tunes accompanied by accordion at the Utsalady Ladies Aid building, Julie Campbell and Linda Younce will add musical delight to your delectable’s! 78 Utsalady Road, Camano Island.
