Historic Sites Tour

Fri, August 25 (12:00-4:00) & Sat, August 26 (10:00-4:00)

Music of yesteryear in our community

Come enjoy exploring historical instruments, record players, tapes, and other musical artifacts. We will also have performances! 


August 25th: 

11am - 1pm Camano Island Cowboys

1:30pm to 3:30pm Ukulele Ensemble


August 26th: 

11am to 12pm Songs of Yesteryear with Linda Younce

1pm Wanda Hill will present a short talk about the history of music and why music is important to all cultures   Throughout significant time in history everything seems marked by music. 


There will be refreshments.

    A Day of Celebration and Community

    The Ladies Aid will be having our traditional bake sale with more than 40 pies and other baked goods, beginning at 10am. Many begin lining up very early, as we do sell out within minutes of opening the doors. 


    There will be a patriotic walk that begins at approximately 11 am. 


    After the patriotic walk (see the route in the picture above...), there will be a flag raising ceremony at the Ladies Aid Building led by our local Boy Scouts, followed by a few patriotic sing-along songs.

    There is always room for more pies on the Bake Sale Tables! 


    Would you like to join the Ladies Aid and be a part of giving back? We would love to welcome you at our next member luncheon, the 2nd Wednesdays of each month, beginning with social time at 11:30am.

      Stanwood Camano Historic Sites Tour ~ AUGUST 26 & 27, 2022

      Friday from 12-4pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm

      Presentation: For the Love of Quilts

      2pm, Friday August 26th,

      Richard Hanks, researcher and writer for Coyote Hill Press, will be giving a talk about the history of quilts back to the Civil War. 


      There will be an exhibit board with the very rare Civil War U.S. Sanitary Commission quilt and newspaper clippings about how it ended up in Redlands, CA.   Above is a photo of the quilt, which is hanging in a museum where Richard worked in California. 


      Richard will bring his retirement quilt and his grandma's quilts to show.  

      Inside the Building: Many Types of Quilts

      Hero Quilts - since 2007 they have been made for injured military.
      Antique quilts
      Retirement quilts
      Christmas stockings
      Mending Hearts quilts for those affected by disasters and domestic violence
      A selection of quilts made by members of  ULA  - they also belong to many of the above groups.
       

      There will be quilters available to answer questions about their work and information of additional sites displaying quilts.

        At Camano Arts Association, the annual spring studio tour is the premier event of the year.  The tour draws visitors from thousands of miles away, as well as neighbors, family, and friends who simply drop by to offer support.  We welcome all to our beautiful island life where you'll find creative minds, stunning scenery, and lots of places to grab some lunch or dinner.
