The question should be be what didn’t she do for the ladies Aid
Laurie was a wonderful friend, she loved the Ladies Aid and helped make it such a special organization. She was an organizer with amazing ideas. It was her idea to start the Art Tour Lunch and she worked hard on it every year, and there was always a new idea to make it more successful !
Every event the ladies Aid held had her imprint on it, she was such a classy lady.
She organized a trip to the garden show in Seattle, she put together baskets for the Ladies Aid to donate to the Senior Center! She helped plan the Teas, perhaps the biggest project is her undertaking of writing a book that we finished for her. The list would be long if you listed everything, she did for us. She wanted us to have fun whatever we did.
When I was first elected as president of the Ladies Aid, she gave me the notebook she had put together when she was president. It became my blueprint on how to serve as president. She served on my Board, and I depended on her to help plan what we would do. She was so full of ideas, just look at the many accomplishments we did these last few years.
Laurie was always involved and knew how to get things done. She knew our community and to whom we should reach out for help. Not many would say no to Laurie!
Laurie realized what a special organization the ladies Aid was and how it served this community, she saw how friendships were developed and by working together we could do so much for others and have a good time! I believe she had a special relationship with each of us. The Ladies Aid was truly blessed to have had her as a member!
I know that I am a better person because she was my friend.
The year I was President the first time, I opened up our little building on the 4th of July. I decorated and l put chairs out. Made coffee and was working on icing brownies. Laurie Ware and her neighbor came into the building. I was there by myself...they both asked if they could help me. That was the beginning of their introduction to the Ladies Aid.
I knew who she was, I went to school with her son David. Her husband Mr. Nemo was my 7th grade teacher.
Laurie had a heart for our little building and the organization and was very instrumental in the preservation of the building. She is a good motivator, leader etc.
She helped with baking cookies, offering her signature cookie recipe which is included in the 2nd cookbook.
She served as President, starting board meetings! Prior to that we never met apart from the general monthly meeting. unless it was something pressing.
One year Laurie got apples from the east side of the mountains, and we peeled apples, made dough, made 50+ pies that year for the 4th of July bake sale.
Our last Wednesdays of the month gathering, ULA (or fun group) was started by Laurie Dilday and Laurie Ware just this year. Even at our last meeting, Laurie was saying what is our purpose. What could we be doing as a group besides have fun?
The work on the story book for the 100-year celebration of the building in 2024 was a big, worthwhile project. She was grateful for those that came in to help her. She organized a photo shoot for the booklet.
She will be greatly missed. A classy lady.
